Is Liquid Carbon a replacement for CO2 in a planted aquarium?

Yes, for Low-Tech Planted Tank (less than 0.5 watt per liter) this can be used as sole source of carbon. However, for high-tech setup we recommend this to be used in conjunction with a C02 setup.

What is the recommended dose?

We recommend dosing 10 mL of Liquid Carbon per 60 liters of water initially or after any major water change (more than 40%). Thereafter use 2mL per 60 liters of water on daily basis.

When should I dose Liquid Carbon? At night or in the morning?

All plants are reliant on photosynthesis. Based on this, it would be ideal to dose Liquid Carbon just before the lights being turned on. This way the aquatic plants will have a readily available carbon source for making their food.

Does Liquid Carbon have an expiration date or need to be refrigerated?

No, Liquid Carbon doesn’t have an expiry date. It is suggested that you store the product in a dark and a cool place away from sunlight hence, requiring no refrigeration.

Is Liquid Carbon safe for shrimp and invertebrates?

When use as directed, Liquid Carbon is 100% safe for fish, shrimp and invertebrates.

Liquid Carbon is highly effective and least complicated source of carbon for freshwater planted aquarium. It can be used together with CO2 injection or as an alternative. Moreover, it is best for supplementing zero or fluctuating CO2 which is main cause for algae growth and contains beneficial carbon compounds which is essential for growth of aquatic plants.

WHY LIQUID CARBON?

Nearly 45% of dry mass in aquatic plants is carbon and that’s why all of them need some kind of carbon source for survival. It is one of the most important nutrient in photosynthesis, which is used by plants to make their food. Regular dosing of Liquid Carbon also keeps algae under check and it is best during initial setup of planted aquarium where algae bloom is concern.

The Liquid Carbon by Aquatrition® is a simple and least complicated way to provide your aquatic plants with a carbon source for their optimal growth.

Dosing

RECOMMENDED DOSE

Use 10mL of the solution per 60 liters of water initially or after major water change (more than 40%). Thereafter use 2mL per 60 liters of water daily. For best results, use in combination with other products of Essentials and Enhancers by Aquatrition®.
