Yes, for Low-Tech Planted Tank (less than 0.5 watt per liter) this can be used as sole source of carbon. However, for high-tech setup we recommend this to be used in conjunction with a C02 setup.
We recommend dosing 10 mL of Liquid Carbon per 60 liters of water initially or after any major water change (more than 40%). Thereafter use 2mL per 60 liters of water on daily basis.
All plants are reliant on photosynthesis. Based on this, it would be ideal to dose Liquid Carbon just before the lights being turned on. This way the aquatic plants will have a readily available carbon source for making their food.

Yes, i am using it in my planted tank for couple of years now. I have lot of mosses to my driftwood. Haven't seen any damage or deterioration yet. However i usually do not ever did any kid of spot treatment and also keep the water temperature towards lower side to keep my mosses thriving.
